Maria was born in El Salvador. She moved to Washington D.C and attended Radford University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. Maria returned to El Salvador to take a Lead Kindergarten teaching position at an English Immersion School. She married, returned to the US, and had three wonderful children. After starting a business with her husband and acting as office manager and a licensed insurance agent, Maria and her husband moved from Maryland to Mount Pleasant in 2021. She tutored and taught Spanish at The Learning Center and El Colegio Miercoles before joining USL. Maria loves sharing her language and culture. Her instruction includes visual, auditory, and tactile approaches to increase memory retention, understanding, and fluency. In her free time, Maria travels, visits area beaches, paddleboards, or spends time with family and friends.
