Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Each year, we strive for 100% participation from families, faculty/staff, and board members. For good reason: high participation is a clear sign of a strong, committed community.
When everyone gives, no matter the amount, it sends a powerful message to foundations, grant makers, and other potential supporters: our community believes in USL.
Put simply: every gift counts.

The Annual Fund supports:

A school’s mission is very different from a business’s. We’re here to nurture, educate, and prepare young people not to generate profit.
Our model is intentionally designed to balance sustainability with accessibility.

Charging the full cost of what is needed to educate a USL student would be restrictive for some families. USL wants to provide as many families as possible the opportunity to attend.

Raising philanthropic funds each year allows the faculty, staff, and leadership to think big; to realize the USL vision; and to thrive offering the highest quality programs.

Additionally, tuition is not tax-deductible, but your gift to the Annual Fund is!

The calendar year for the Annual Fund is from July 1 through June 30. A gift given anytime during the school year, up until June 30, will be applied to that school year’s operational expenses. While we traditionally have a fall drive to help fuel programming and operational costs, you may give at any time. Gifts (not pledges) received by December 31 can be applied to that year’s tax return. All gifts and pledges received by November 12, 2025 will be counted in the Fall Drive Announcement.

Our Annual Fund helps our innovative signature programs come to life.
