The safety of our volunteers is our top priority; therefore, we have made the difficult decision to suspend services for one day. We will resume deliveries Thursday morning. We encourage all recipients to stay indoors and follow local weather advisories.

Thank You!

So, when a donor, who wishes to remain anonymous, asks if we can do breakfast for lunch, we make it happen! Thanks in large part to Charleston Catering and Events who prepared our great breakfast today and even had Keith and Linda here to help our volunteers pack the meals!

We’re already getting compliments from the recipients so a big THANK YOU to all who helped make this possible!

A big THANK YOU to our little friends at Sullivan's Island Elementary School for their most generous donations of breakfast items which were their admission to Movie Night! Breakfast is often said to be the most important meal of the day, and we are one of the few Meals on Wheels with a Breakfast Program! Our recipients love breakfast items, and they will especially love these knowing where they came from!

We're blessed with a community that truly cares for each other and teaches others the importance of kindness.

Valentine's Day is a day to express love and affection, not only between romantic partners but also among friends and family. We’re all about LOVE and FAMILY here at Meals on Wheels! Our amazing volunteers are out spreading love every day, not just on Valentine’s Day!

Our volunteers provide a friendly face and a nutritious meal, which can brighten someone’s day and significantly ease feelings of isolation. For many of our homebound neighbors, this visit may be their only human contact that day, offering much-needed social interaction and a critical wellness check. AND today, our recipients are getting handmade Valentine’s Cards from local groups and students, letting them know they are LOVED!

So, enjoy this day with the ones you love and know that our Meals on Wheels family is doing our part, out there spreading the love each and every day to our often forgotten homebound neighbors!

You’re never too young to help!

This week our little friends from Christ Church Day School stopped by with a BIG in-kind donation to our Breakfast Program! So much great food, we know our recipients are going to enjoy it all very much! While they were here, we had a chance to tell them all about the work we do and why serving our homebound neighbors, regardless of age or income, is so important! They were especially excited to hear that we also deliver pet food!

A big THANK YOU to our Volunteers of this past Fourth Quarter: Terry and Sue Maurer

Since February 2019, Terry and Sue have been vital members of the East Cooper Meals on Wheels family, driving their regular route on Wednesdays and substituting at a moment’s notice. Terry often returns from his first delivery to see my expression and asks what he can do to help. Without hesitation, they will take a second route. Over the years, they’ve trained new volunteers and continuously share our mission with everyone they know, truly outstanding ambassadors!

Because of our friends like Terry and Sue, we KNOW that not only will the meals be delivered, but the recipients will be seen and heard. This connection is why we all love what we do here at Meals on Wheels.

With a three-hour delayed start this morning due to road conditions, the meals are now out for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday!

On a day when most would stay home, our volunteers chose to brave the snowy conditions and ensure our most vulnerable neighbors didn't go without meals for the weekend. Volunteers are the heart of our organization, and today, have proven once again why they are the backbone of our Meals on Wheels family!
